१ अधजल गगरी छ्लकत जाए ।

Half-filled pot goes spilling out water

२ अन्‍धों में काना राजा ।

Why repent now, when the bird has already eaten the crop.

There’s no use of repentance after time of action passes.

४ आप भला तो जग भला ।

If one is good, then the whole world is good.If you are good, you will find that everyone else is good too.

५ अंत भला तो सब भला ।

If the end is good, everything is good.All’s well that ends well.

६ एक म्यान में दो तलवारें नहीं समातीं ।

Two swords do not fit in one scabbard.Two of a trade seldom agree.

७ नाच न जाने आंगन टेढ़ा ।

Knows no dance, claims the stage is tilted.

Said of a person without skill who blames his failure on other things.

८ बंदर क्या जाने अदरक का स्वाद ।

What does a monkey know of the taste of ginger?

Someone who can’t understand can’t appreciate.

९ दूर के ढोल सुहावने लगते हैं ।

The drums sound better at a distanceWe tend to like the ones we don’t have

१० घर की मुर्गी दाल बराबर ।

Self possessions are always undermined and other’s possessions seem better.

११ घर का भेदी लंका ढाए ।

It is the insider who is dangerous and leaks secretive information to help out your enemies

१२ जल में रहकर मगर से बैर ठीक नहीं ।

Living in water and being an enemy of the crocodile is not good.

१३ गरजने बादल बरसते नहीं ।

Those who make the most threats seldom do anything

१४ जितनी लम्बी चादर हो उतने ही पैर फ़ैलाना चाहिए ।

Stretch your legs only till the size of your Counter pan.
